Refex represents a revolutionary advance in pH measurement technology. The key weakness in current technology lies with the reference electrode. Traditional technologies depend upon having a porous junction to provide the necessary electrochemical connection between the internal AgCl half-cell and the process flow being measured. Unfortunately, this liquid junction results in many problems.

In comparison, Refex pH reference electrodes are constructed from an advanced plastic which provides the electrochemical connection without any liquid contact. This eliminates the dangers of chemical interaction with the internal liquid half-cell which commonly causes measurement drift and sensor failure particularly in harsh conditions. In addition, the whole body of the probe provides the connection, which massively reduces measurement error introduced by material in the process coating the outside of the probe.

Refex-based pH sensors are reliable, accurate and stable through long lifetimes (even in harsh petrochemical roles probes can be expected to last over 12 months) providing savings in maintenance costs and increases in process quality.
